“We can help each other heal through working together. By having Elders involved in guiding young people and sharing those teachings that will give them value.”

Collective Healing Guide
“[There exists an] intersection of traditional and modernity, acknowledging the importance of ancestral wisdom in contemporary life … [it is essential] to recognize the value of intergenerational knowledge transfer and resilience in the face of historical trauma.”
– Pietra Banks, We Matter Ambassador of Hope
It is with great anticipation that we, We Matter, release the Keepers of the Fire Collective Healing Guide, a living document reflects the wisdom of the Elders and Knowledge Keepers who so generously shared their knowledge. As a well-developed youth-centred resource with related illustrations and presentations currently being developed, it can be utilized as a learning tool to assist Indigenous youth and others who want to learn how to better foster collective healing within their communities, particularly from teachings directly from Elders and Knowledge Keepers. We are excited to present a resource designed to inspire, uplift, and empower communities and their kinship. This guide is for all ages and stages, youth who lead youth-led spaces, community organizations, support workers, youth councils, and life-long learners.
“The guide’s holistic approach to healing and its recognition of diverse perspectives are commendable. By continuing to centre marginalized voices, deepen the exploration of cultural practices, and address systemic inequities, this guide has the potential to serve as a valuable resource for personal and collective transformation, empowering individuals to take control of their healing journeys.”
